Selfbet — Recovery Non-profit
Selfbet is a non-profit providing free therapy, self-exclusion programmes and community support for people recovering from gambling addiction. The site presents those services and takes donations through Stripe.

Selfbet is a non-profit started by someone in recovery from gambling addiction, offering free therapy, financial recovery help, self-exclusion support and a community around it. The site is where a person in the middle of that finds those services and where donors fund them — so the whole job is being clear and unembarrassing to arrive at.

The problem
Someone reaching a gambling-support site is rarely browsing. They have usually arrived at a bad moment, possibly on a phone, possibly not intending to tell anyone they were here.
That sets the brief. The services have to be legible immediately — what is on offer, what it costs, what happens if you make contact — and nothing on the page should feel like a form of exposure. The founder's own story does a lot of that work, which is why it leads rather than sits on an About page.
What was built
A marketing site covering the four services: therapy with gambling support coaches starting from an initial evaluation, financial recovery help from CPAs and financial experts for people carrying gambling debt, self-exclusion and practical removal of access, and the community and weekly check-ins around all of it.
Alongside that: a directory of support coaches, open letters, contact routes, and donations through Stripe, since the services are free and the donations are what pay for them.
What I owned
I built the site as a frontend developer at Inseed — the pages, the coach directory and the donation flow.
What mattered here
Not much of this is technically difficult, and saying otherwise would be dressing it up. What it needed was restraint.
The donation flow is the one piece with real consequences, and it has to work first time on a phone without sending someone through an account or a funnel. Everything else is clarity: no hedging about what the services are, no requirement to identify yourself before you can read anything, and a tone that does not perform sympathy at people who are being asked to accept something difficult about themselves.
